The specimen
About this plant
Washingtonia robusta shaped the avenues of Casablanca and the gardens of the Palmeraie. Its tall, slim trunk topped by a compact crown of fan fronds brings instant verticality, alone or in a group of three.
It is the fastest palm in our selection: it gains height quickly and settles easily in the most ordinary soils. It tolerates wind, salt spray and heatwaves.
Ideal for framing a pool, punctuating an avenue or giving height to a new garden.

Caring for your plant
Watering
Water abundantly every week in the first year, then space out: fortnightly in summer is enough once rooted.
Light
Full sun. It leans towards the light if starved of it.
Feeding
Palm feed in spring and early summer. Magnesium prevents yellowing of older fronds.
Temperature
No fear of heat. Handles brief frosts down to −5 °C, which covers all of urban Morocco.
