The specimen

About this plant

The spineless yucca takes its name from the swollen base of its trunk. Its long, supple leaves, free of sharp tips, form graphic heads at several heights when grown as a multi-stem.

Remarkably robust, it accepts the full sun of a terrace, the light of a living room, drought and neglect. It is one of the few plants that moves seamlessly between outdoors and indoors, which makes it an ally of architects for thresholds, covered patios and lobbies.

A calm vertical presence that asks for almost nothing.

Care

Caring for your plant

  • Watering

Water when the mix is dry ten centimetres down: every ten to fifteen days in summer, monthly in winter.

  • Light

Full sun outdoors, bright light indoors. Turn the pot a quarter turn monthly for an upright habit.

  • Feeding

Balanced feed once a month from April to September.

  • Temperature

Comfortable from 5 to 45 °C. It survives short light frosts but prefers shelter below 0 °C.

  • Outdoors or in, it adapts without complaint
  • Multi-level trunks with real architectural presence
  • Tolerates drought and forgotten waterings
