About this plant
Cypress 'Stricta' grows as a narrow, dense spindle that never broadens. Planted in a row it forms a privacy curtain that takes up only a metre of ground; in pairs it frames a door; alone it punctuates a garden like an exclamation mark.
It loves heat and drought, is content with poor soils and needs no pruning to stay neat. Its deep colour sets off pale walls and the silver foliage of olive and lavender.
A classic that has lasted centuries for good reason.
