The Moroccan summer does not forgive poor choices. Between the chergui wind that desiccates in a few hours, nights that stay hot inland and increasingly common water restrictions, a badly chosen plant suffers from June onwards. Good news: dozens of species have evolved for exactly these conditions.
Look for three traits: small, thick or silvery leaves (olive, lavender, rosemary), water-storing tissues (agave, aloe, yucca) or a deep root system able to reach moisture (bougainvillea, oleander, pomegranate). Large, thin, tender leaves transpire too fast.
Air conditioning dries the air as much as the chergui does. Keep plants away from vents, group them to create a microclimate and mist tropical foliage in the evening. Snake plants, ZZ plants and dracaena tolerate everything; calathea and alocasia need attention.
Every plant in the collection has a detailed care guide: water, light, year-round calendar and the cities where it thrives.
